Copyright law includes a classroom exception under Section 110(1), allowing instructors to display or show entire copyrighted works during in-person class sessions. This exception is separate from fair use and may be a more suitable option for using copyrighted materials in the classroom.
However, this exception applies only to face-to-face instruction. Different rules govern the use of copyrighted materials in online courses. For more details, see the section on Online Course Considerations.
