Description

Parent’s Weekend is held each fall, usually in early October.  Parents and family are invited to spend the weekend at the campus.  A variety of activities are planned including crowning of king and queen, a football game, dinner, etc.  Collection contains flyers and programs from these weekends (1959 – 1995).

Also includes information on Founder’s Day, Mock Convention, Red Mass, SFC Theatre and Veteran’s Day.

Description

Includes documentation from the Saturday Institute in Biology held in 1962/63.  It provided an all-expense institute for high school and junior high school science teachers every Saturday fall through spring.  The purpose of the course was to “enrich the biological background of the teachers and to broaden their experience with many biological phenomenon and laboratory techniques”.  Larry Pion was the director.  Funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Office Master (A1-01-07)  lists is a single notebook dated 1948 containing a register of individuals cross-indexed to pledge cards by card number.  Register sheets contain information in columns marked:  taken by, card number, name and address of prospects, rating, subscribed, remarks.

Storage box (A1-01-08) Contain names, addresses and amounts pledged to St. Francis College for the 1949 fund drive (Friends of St. Francis College) for the years 1949-1951.

This box contains posters created by various organizations including the Admissions office as well as the Student Activities Organization (SAO). The majority of the items contained within in this box were originally housed within the flat file. The flat file was inventoried in the Fall of 2017 which resulted in many of these items being removed from the flat file and moved to storage within the TCA collections. The materials from the flat file have been merged with existing materials of the same type.

Poster: Saint Francis College of Loretto, Pennsylvania:  A Franciscan Foundation Since 1847 was sold at the college bookstore in the early 1990s.  This copy was signed by the designer (Friar Damian) to Dave Cox, bookstore manager.  The poster was “In memory of Friar James Joyce, TOR.”  Fr. Description

Contains programs for specific competitions and general sports program descriptions for sports at Saint Francis College/University except football and Men's and Women's basketball which, because of the large volume, are stored separately.  Some years the publications for men's and women's sports were combined and in other years' there were separate publications for each sport.  Includes baseball, boxing, cross-country, fall sports, golf, men's soccer, tennis and volleyball, rifle, track and field, softball, spring sports, women's athletics, women's soccer, swimming, tennis and volleyball and wrestling.  Includes contract for Elmer Daley-Athletic Director 1930.  Programs for High School Basketball Tournament 1937 (held at college) and Blair County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Awards Dinner 1987 (William “Skip” Hughes was among those inducted).
